Classic Caprese Salad

This is one of my favorite salads because of how easy it is to put together!


3 vine-ripe tomatoes, about 1/4-inch thick slices
1 pound fresh mozzarella, about 1/4-inch thick slices
1 bunch fresh basil
Extra-virgin olive oil, for drizzling
Balsamic vinegar, for drizzling
Coarse salt and pepper

Alternate slices of tomato, mozzarella and a couple fresh basil leaves on a plate and fan out.
Drizzle both olive oil and balsamic vinegar over the salad and sprinkle with salt & pepper to taste.

  1. I have this wonderful balsamic vinegar that I got from williams sonoma that is just perfect on a caprese salad. When it's really hot in the summertime I'm often eating this (a couple servings) for dinner. So good.
