Foodie Freebie Friday: Gourmet Getaway Tote

May 4, 2009 · WCC Administr@tr · 101 Comments

fff21-1420864Welcome back to the start of a new week! I hope you enjoyed your weekend doing something fun and savoring something delicious! It was my birthday weekend and it certainly was food, fun and friend-filled!

I’m not sure about you, but whenever the work week starts up again, one thing that comes to mind is packing up lunches. My husband prefers to pack a lunch rather than eating out so I have the lovely task of getting something put together and sending him along with it. “Brown bagging” lunches has probably been a popular way to have lunch, considering how everyone I know is making efforts to be more budget minded these days. Well, I’ve got a great giveaway to help fellow brown baggers to effectively bring along their lunch in style…

built_logo_red-3182187

BUILT transforms the ordinary into the extraordinary. Our design team, headed by two of the founders, starts with everyday objects such as bottle totes, lunch bags, and laptop sleeves—then strips away the unnecessary and the expected. Drawing inspiration from the city that never sleeps – and the locals and visitors that inhabit our Soho neighborhood – we apply color and pattern liberally to everything we produce. Our solid roots in the tradition of American industrial design guide us in the belief that form is as important as function, and color is the glue that binds them together. The results from this unusual foundation are original and stylish products that meet the demands of life in perpetual motion.– BUILT

One lucky winner this week will have their choice of one of these great lunch totes from Built:

stripe-3470374red-4461589

black-8698790dots-1504750

It’s great for road trips, stakeouts, or any time you’re on the run and need provisions to keep you going. And unlike those brown bags, you’ll want to use this tote over and over again.

  • INSULATES FOOD & DRINK FOR UP TO 4 HOURS DEPENDING ON EXTERNAL TEMPERATURES
  • TESTED FOR LEAD SAFETY – NO VINYL OR PVC USED
  • MADE FROM NEOPRENE (THE WETSUIT MATERIAL)
  • SOFT-GRIP HANDLE
  • ZIP CLOSURE
  • STORES FLAT
  • STAIN RESISTANT, MACHINE WASH COLD, DRIP DRY
  • W 13.5″ x H 13.5″ x D 7″ (W 34.3cm x H 34.3cm x D 17.8cm)

Some guidelines
:
– Giveaway is only for those who live in the United States. My apologies to my international readers!
– You must have a valid email address so that you can be contacted if you win.

To enter the giveaway, leave a comment answering:
– What do you usually have for lunch everyday?

Deadline: Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 12 midnight CST.

One Winner will be randomly chosen by Random.Org’s Interger Generator based on the number of your comment and will be announced on May 8, 2009. Good luck!

Joelen–I absolutely love those lunch bags, I hope I win one. I have been wanting a new one!! My husband and I always pack our lunches, too, prob 99% of the time. Usually, I pack leftovers, but my husband likes to bring cold-cut sandwiches with a bag of chips, since he doesn’t have to warm them up in the microwave. I don’t mind walking to the microwave and wait a little, it’s a little break for me and I get to chat with other co-workers 🙂 ~ Yudith

I have always brought my own lunch to work and I recently read (in a review of a biography of her) that so did Helen Gurley Brown ~ even later when she was, you know, pretty famous! So, we’re in good company here.

I like to make slightly startling combinations out of leftovers some of which border on art and some of which can be not so great, but I loath waste and love experiments. They always contain healthy ingredients though, that’s a rule.

Tomorrow: basmanti rice, some green beans and carrots that were cooked with an Italian Pollo al forno con limone e rosmarino (so have a lemony flavor), some left over chicken tikka masala (a different chicken!), some Moroccan tapanade from Fresh and Easy Market (olives, raisins, chick peas, garlic) and a dollop of Greek yogurt.

When I bring lunch, it’s usually left overs from the night before. Otherwise, I run out and pick up something.

I like Sonic’s grilled chicken wraps and Chick Fil A’s Ceasar chicken wraps.

On Fridays a group from the office usually go out and someone in the group picks. Mexican and Chinese seem to be the favorites.

I almost always bring my lunch. Usually left overs or if there are none, peanut butter and jelly.

I love those bags! Too cute. Taking your lunch is such a cost-effective tool and usually the food is better than anything you get out!

I’m ashamed to admit my lunch is usually a chicken salad or tuna salad wrap, OR a lean cuisine.
I don’t like taking leftovers for lunch (DH eats them for his lunches), and I have trouble finding recipes I can make that’ll last and be fun all week for lunches (any hints, joelen??)

I’m definitely a SmartOnes/Lean Cuisine girl. My favorite is SO Three Cheese Ziti Marinara. And I love Lean Cuisine’s Sesame Chicken.

Anything that I can take quick bites of in between chasing kids! (I’m a nanny and bring my son with me!) I usually make a pasta salad, orzo salad, chicken salad or a quick sandwich so I just grab and go in the morning.

I usually have leftovers from dinner, and in the summer when our garden is producing, I bring the makings for a caprese salad – I can’t get enough of them when I have tomatoes and basil fresh from the garden!

I have leftovers. I have a Mr. Bento with 4 compartments. The bottom to are hot (in fall/winter/spring) main or side dishes, and the top two have salads, celery sticks, apple slices – usually fresh fruits and veggies.
