BBQ Seasoned Grilled Sweet Potato Fries

June 26, 2009 · WCC Administr@tr · 4 Comments

What better side than fries to go with burgers?! Tonight we grilled up some mini burgers (aka sliders) and put some fries on the grill too. Both the burgers and fries are recipes from Bobby Flay, who is currently my Chef du jour lately. What I like about Bobby’s recipe for grilled fries is that you can prepare them in advance and grill them when you’re ready. Also, the recipe allows you to season the fries however you’d like. Bobby’s recipe calls for russet potatoes (in which I used sweet potatoes) and ancho chili powder and cumin (in which I just substituted a local BBQ rub/seasoning.)

BBQ Seasoned Grilled Sweet Potato Fries
recipe inspired by Bobby Flaydsc02446-7376006

1-2 large sweet potatoes
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
2 tablespoons BBQ Seasoning (or whatever preferred seasoning you have)

Cover the potatoes with cold water in a large saucepan and cook until almost tender. Drain and dry the potatoes. Cut each potato lengthwise into quarters.

Place the potatoes on a baking sheet and brush both sides of the potatoes with oil. Sprinkle the seasoning over the potatoes. dsc02425-5456027
Grill the potato wedges for 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown.

I love it! I'm definitely going to try these for The Kiddo who, being two, has a serious love affair with french fries.

I love sweet potato fries and this seasoning on them sounds great. Sometimes I forget to think outside the box on simple things like sweet potato fries.
