Eli’s Cheesecake: Satisfying Chicago’s Sweet Tooth!

July 2, 2009 · WCC Administr@tr · 4 Comments

Sure, Chicago is known for our deep dish pizzas and hot dogs… but does anything sweet come to mind? Eli’s Cheesecake is definitely a local favorite and it’s no wonder. They have a fantastic selection of cheesecakes and other sweet treats.

Last night, I had the pleasure of meeting Marc Schulman, president of Eli’s Cheesecake, and also Elana, Marc’s daughter. We had a wonderful time at the Taste of Chicago sampling cheesecake, talking about Chicago’s amazing restaurants and our passion for food and the industry. Here’s a few of the delicious eats I had a chance to sample:

Original Plain
The one that started it all…simply a combination of the best quality slow- cultured cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, Madagascar vanilla beans and whole eggs. All baked on our signature crisp all-butter shortbread cookie crust. Featured in O Magazine, January 2007.dsc02602-3774219

Eli’s Cheesecake Dippers
Frozen Original Plain Cheesecake hand-dipped in rich bittersweet
chocolate and toffee bits, all served on a stick. The fun, forkless, dessert!

Cookie Crazy Cheesecake with Oreos
Original Plain Cheesecake with chunks of Oreo® topped with heavy whipped cream, chocolate & more Oreo® baked on an Oreo® cookie crust.

Caramel Chocolate Pecan (“Turtle”)
Creamy caramel cheesecake topped with a bed of more buttery caramel,
a drizzle of bittersweet chocolate and toasted pecans,
all baked on a chocolate cookie crust.

Marc and Elana sent me off with some great cheesecake to enjoy… but of course, I’ve got a special treat in store using the goodies. Stay tuned to see what I’ll be doing with Eli’s Cheesecake later tonight!
