After the upcoming holiday, many children will be starting a new school year (if they haven’t already) and one successful program dedicated to raising money for schools is Box Tops for Education. Education is important as we all know, but schools are constantly in need of resources, equipment, supplies, teaching materials and other items to help provide children a comprehensive learning environment. The Box Tops for Education program helps raise funds for school and some ways schools have chosen to use the funds raised include purchasing computers, books, playground equipment and classroom parties.
Funds are raised by clipping Box Tops coupons from hundreds of participating products found in your local grocery store, which are then sent to your school of choice. Your school earns 10¢ for each Box Top redeemed. To help with raising funds, Sam’s Club has partnered with Box Tops for Education with their BIG CLIP campaign. From August 15th through September 4th, Sam’s Club shoppers can get more Box Tops coupons on their favorite back to school brands, maximizing earnings for schools.
Participating brands include: Cheerios, Ziploc containers, Ziploc sandwich bags, Honey Nut Cheerios, Pillsbury Chocolate Chip Cookies, Fiber One Oats & Chocolate Bars, Nature Valley Bars, Scott Paper Towels, Huggies Baby Wipes and Kleenex Facial Tissues.
Although the BIG CLIP campaign ends today, September 4th, that doesn’t mean you can’t support the Box Tops for Education program throughout the year! In fact, to encourage you to clip box tops for your neighborhood schools, I’m offering up some freebies. I will be giving away:
- 5 one-day passes to Sam’s Club warehouse stores to 5 readers… and one of those 5 readers will also receive a $25 gift certificate to apply to their purchases.
– Giveaway is only for those who live in the United States – my apologies to my international readers!
– You must have a valid email address (within your comment or blog link) so that you can be contacted if you win.
To enter the giveaway, leave a comment answering:
– What is your favorite grade school memory?
Deadline: Friday, September 4, 2009 at 12 midnight CST.
FIVE WINNERS will be randomly chosen by Random. Org’s Interger Generator based on the number of your comment and will be announced on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Good luck!
My favorite grade school memory was trading Lisa Frank stationary with friends at recess. We were dorks then! We all had pen pals to impress!
Wow! I'm first! My favorite grade school memory was in the third grade. The Book It program, sponsored by Pizza Hut, hosted a lock-in. The night was filled with games, food, reading and fun! I was eight and I still remember it, so it must have made quite an impression!
We had a first grade teacher who would sing and play instruments for us. I love it!! 🙂
Oh – I'd love a trip to Sam's club! I actaully have quite a few memories from grade school still – I especially remember the "special days" though – Rainbow day in Kindergarten, Apple Day in 3rd grade, and a Photography field trip in 6th grade.
Sadly, graduation!
My favorite grade school memory has to be the room parties. They were always so much fun!
school lunches were great!

Kickball, of course! Ok, maybe four square, too. 😀
Recess…..oh how I miss you! Great memories!
Nap time! I don't think I fully appreciated it until I didn't have it anymore!
My favorite grade school memory is of Valentine's Day and you would decorate a shoe box and leave valentine cards for all your classmates.
The smell and feel of school in the fall with the windows open.
I loved recess! We would play outside on the playground, and some of my friends and I would pick flowers (read: weeds!) for each other. So fun!

Playing sports and being a cheerleader. I made a lot of friends, some lifetime even! It taught me about teamwork, leadership and winning! I wish I still was involved in team sports! Oh and I loved the field trips too-especially to downtown Chicago and the Museums!
Meeting my best friend in kindergarten. We are still best friends today, 25 yrs later. I went home and told my mom that she was from a foreign country. She is from Cincinnati, OH!!

Grade school was so much fun. I love recess and art classes 🙂
Starting school each year…I liked the feeling of having a clean slate and brand new crayons!
M&M Math! It was such a fun and new way of learning and such a treat too!
My favorite memory is competing with my friend to read as many books as we could as part of the Book It! program. I busted through a lot of Sweet Valley High books! haha

I went to a Catholic grade school First through 5th grade and every year we would put on a Christmas Musical play. My favorite memory is one Christmas play we were singing this goofy Christmas song with my favorite toy plastic phone which I thought was super cool. : ) I think I was 8 years old or something. : )
Has to be the school dances. The excitement of going. Who was I going to dance with? So much fun!

My favorite memory is of a Pioneer Day event that the school held. We all dressed up and brought food that Pioneers might have eaten. My mom is a good seamstress so she made my costume, it was so cute.
My favorite grade school memory is going to the "Daddy/Daughter" dance with my dad. I thought I was so grown up in my dress. My dad traveled a lot when I was little and he took me to the dance even after just getting off a flight from Europe, jet-lagged and exhausted. What a wonderful dad : )
