Taco Pizza Squares

When the weekend approaches, my family gets excited for the upcoming football games this time of year. Now that the Chicago Bears have made it to the playoffs, it’s especially exciting. When the game is on, the next thing on everyone’s mind is what is there to snack on? These Taco Pizza Squares make for a great snack and you’ve got to be quick when they’re out… they tend to disappear faster than you think!

These Taco Pizza Squares combine all the flavor of beef tacos on top of a buttery croissant dough crust. The crust is topped with chipotle sour cream, seasoned ground beef, and the usual taco garnishes of shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, shredded cheddar cheese and black olives. Feel free to top it with other ingredients you’d like. The  beauty of this is you’re able to customize it to your tastes!

Taco Pizza Squares
recipe adapted from Pillsbury

1 lb. ground beef
1 envelope taco seasoning mix
2 (8 oz.) cans Pillsbury crescent rolls
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup chopped tomatoes or pico de gallo salsa
1/4 cup sliced black olives

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Brown meat and drain. Stir in taco sauce mix and set aside.

Unroll crescent rolls into rectangles. Place in ungreased 15″x10″ jelly roll pan or cookie sheet; press over bottom and up side to form crust. Bake in preheated oven for 13 to 17 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely, about 30 minutes.

Top with browned beef, sprinkle with cheese and return to oven until melted. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, taco sauce and sour cream. Serve immediately.

These sound really good. I would have never thought about making a crust like that.
