Chicken & Broccoli Stir Fry

There have been a few weeks where life was just so hectic that we ate out almost every night for dinner. Sadly this has been the case more often than I care to admit, simply because I didn’t prepare well in advance for our meals, or the idea of making dinner just took too much effort or time. That’s why I love looking for new ways to make dinner quick and easy without having to really plan. Can you believe this Chicken & Broccoli Stir Fry took me less than 20 minutes to prepare? Tender chicken, fresh broccoli and slivers of sweet carrot simmer in flavorful sauces, which will make you think twice about ever getting take-out again.

Joel’s favorite restaurant is the Chinese restaurant down the street from us. Often times I’ll pick up something there on the way home because the thought of putting something together from scratch just sucks out the little energy I have at the end of the day. When I was introduced to Kraft Recipe Makers, little did I know how much of a time-saver it could be.

So what are Kraft Recipe Makers? They are a new line of Kraft simmering sauces to help make some delicious meals. There are nine different sauce products, and each package has two complementary, ready-to-go sauces that create a dish with layers of flavor. When I looked at the line of sauces they offer, I soon noticed that many of them are sauces that are complex or usually take hours of cooking time to prepare on my own. Although there are nine different styles of sauces offered, you can certainly play with them to create your own dish.

To use, simply combine the two complementary Kraft Recipe Makers sauces with fresh ingredients, such as your choice of protein, produce and grains. Before you know it, you’ll have a meal ready for the table that has layers of flavor. There are even some sauces that work really well in a slow cooker as well as the more traditional use on the stovetop or in the oven.

What I especially like about these sauces is that they allow you to create quality meals even on a busy weeknight, and are flexible enough to use whatever you have on-hand to tie your ingredients together easily. For this stir fry, I had a package of broccoli florets, a carrot and some chicken breast. Using the Kraft Recipe Makers Sweet & Sour Chicken sauces helped me tie these ingredients together quicker and with lots of flavor that would have otherwise taken me a little longer.

What could you do with these sauces for a weeknight dinner? Any ideas or suggestions for recipes that you would use the sauces from Kraft Recipe Makers?

Chicken & Broccoli Stir Fry
recipe inspired by Kraft

2 tablespoons oil
1 1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced & pounded flat
1 package (14.8 oz) Kraft Recipe Makers Sweet & Sour Chicken
1 cup fresh broccoli florets
1/2 large carrot, thinly sliced horizontally

In a large skillet over medium high heat, add the oil, chicken, and half of the Simmer Sauce. Stir fry the chicken until cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.

Add the broccoli, water and remaining Simmer Sauce to skillet. Continue to stir fry for another 5-7 minutes until broccoli is slightly crisp yet tender.

Stir in the Finishing Sauce and continue cooking for another 1-2 minutes or until heated through. Serve over steamed rice.

I've never tried their sauces but how to use them is a ton..I love your stir fry, looks so good. I hear ya, sometimes we go out so often, and all it takes is a good 15-20 minutes for a healthy meal. But, we all need a break now and then right..
