BBQ Beef & Chorizo Tacos

Taco night happens quite a bit at my house because it's such a favorite with my boys. One of the things I like doing for our usual meals is to switch things up a bit by incorporating different flavors to keep dinner interesting. Rather than the usual taco seasoning, I gave my family a twist to our taco night with these BBQ Beef & Chorizo Tacos. Beef and chorizo simmer in a sweet tangy sauce, followed by a finishing sauce to offer a sweet, smoky flavor stuffed into tacos...

So what are Kraft Recipe Makers? They are a new line of Kraft simmering sauces to help make some delicious meals. There are nine different sauce products, and each package has two complementary, ready-to-go sauces that create a dish with layers of flavor. When I looked at the line of sauces they offer, I soon noticed that many of them are sauces that are complex or usually take hours of cooking time to prepare on my own. Although there are nine different styles of sauces offered, you can certainly play with them to create your own dish.

To use, simply combine the two complementary Kraft Recipe Makers sauces with fresh ingredients, such as your choice of protein, produce and grains. Before you know it, you'll have a meal ready for the table that has layers of flavor. There are even some sauces that work really well in a slow cooker as well as the more traditional use on the stovetop or in the oven.

What I especially like about these sauces is that they allow you to create quality meals even on a busy weeknight, are flexible enough to use whatever you have on-hand to tie your ingredients together easily, and in this case, gives you a creative way to enhance your favorite dishes. For these tacos, I combined both ground beef and chorizo together and used the simmer sauce to meld the flavors together. The simmer sauce enhanced my usual taco filling with a nice bbq flavor... and the finishing sauce made it even more special. Using the Kraft Recipe Makers Hickory BBQ Beef sauces put a delicious spin on dinner and my boys loved it!
 
BBQ Beef Tacos
recipe inspired by Kraft
 
2 tablespoons oil
1 onion, diced
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 pound fresh beef chorizo
1 package (14.8 oz) Kraft Recipe Makers Hickory BBQ Beef
12 flour tortillas
assorted taco garnishes
 
In a large skillet over medium heat, add oil and sauté onions until softened.

Add brown the ground beef and chorizo together. Once cooked through, add Simmer Sauce. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Stir in the Finishing Sauce, increase heat to medium high and cook uncovered for another 3-5 minutes.

Spoon filling into tortillas and garnish to your preference.

  4. I am so impressed by your use of these recipe makers! I don't think I would be nearly as creative. But I bet the barbeque beef would also make for a great pulled pork sauce.

  35. The lemon oregano sauce in the Chicken Cacciatore could also be used for grilled greek chicken breasts sprinkled with feta. I’d use the other sauce on pasta to serve with it.
