Happy Monday! This weekend flew by for me, particularly because this is probably the last weekend in a while where I have no real obligatory things to do with places to go, people to see or things to do. That said, it was a great, relaxing weekend and extremely productive too!

Saturday, we did a lot of yardwork around the house. After the brutal winter we had, I was determined to get rid of any trace of fall and winter from the lawn. This involved raking up leaves, pulling out weeds, putting down new mulch, bundling up old sticks and branches, and power washing off our deck to make way for spring and summer entertaining. It was a lot of work, and with the help of the Baron’s parents, we were able to get everything done. I’m looking forward to getting some flowers for the front porch, putting in some hostas on the walk way, placing an edging on the front lawn and perhaps planting some more flowers or herbs in the raised flatbed garden in the backyard in the coming weeks once the frost has past. I’ve learned over this past weekend how much I enjoy working on the yard and going to Home Depot for inspiration and ideas for projects to do around the house lol. After all the yardwork we did, our reward was purchasing a new patio dining set! I can’t wait for it to arrive so we can start hosting our spring and summer parties on the deck!

For dinner Saturday, my brother and his partner came over for a special meal. My birthday is coming up later this week and to celebrate, I partnered up with my favorite butter, Plugra, to create a worthy birthday dinner. I prepared a delicious surf & turf dinner involving a bone in prime rib roast, lump crab stuffed lobster tails, fresh corn salad, bacon bundled green beans and a decadent chocolate coconut layer cake. It was nothing short of fantastic! Details with recipes from this dinner soon to come…

Sunday was yet another productive day. The Baron and I moved quite a few things from the apartment to the house in one trip. The final move will be done in just a few weeks so things are settling in really well! After moving, I had some free time and visited the local Goodwill store. I love ‘thrifting’ and looking for some great deals. I probably hit one of my best deals of all this past weekend. I came across a brand new and complete fondue set by AllClad. If you’re familiar with cookware, AllClad is one brand that is highly reputable for their durable and well performing products. I immediately snagged this and to my surprise, it was only $9.99. When I went home, I was curious what the retail price was. Through the Williams Sonoma website, the same exact fondue set was being sold for $179.95 at retail – Wow! If there’s a time to go thrifting, that time is now because a lot of folks are doing their spring cleaning and donating quite a bit of items. As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!

After such a full and fun weekend, I started prepping snacks to keep in the fridge for the next couple of days. Being that our schedules are always so busy and packed with things to do and places to go, I enjoy having some prepped foods and snacks ready to go. I recently received a set of Sunsella Buddy Box Bento containers and they have been such a great item to store snacks and meals. I love how I can pack the perfect amount of food for snacks, picnics, lunches and leftovers in these containers. One of my favorite uses for them are to make cheese, sausage and fruit trays. When Joel is hungry (which seems to be all the time these days), I just pull out my prepared snack bento and he’s happy to see a variety of things he can choose from. I’ve also loved how they store our leftovers so well. Being a family of 3, sometimes we don’t have that many leftovers to fill up a standard container. But with the Sunsella Buddy Box Bentos, the compartmental sections make it easy to store small amounts of leftovers to create a lunch sized meal to take to work the next day. Although there are other similar containers out there on the market, these bento boxes are much more durable and can withstand the dishwasher quite well too! Each set of 4 comes with different color lids and can be stored easily stacked in a cupboard.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
