The Andersonville Chamber of Commerce (ACC) will welcome guests on a dining tour of Andersonville’s robust restaurant district during the annual Taste of Andersonville on Wednesday, August 15 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event has expanded this year to three routes in order to accommodate increased participation from area restaurants and businesses, as well as diversified menu offerings, with each route highlighting dinner, dessert, and drink options. Tickets are available online now for three curated routes, FORK, KNIFE, and SPOON, each featuring 12 small plate stops. Guests can also select THE WORKS ticket, allowing dining access to two routes of their choice.
“Our signature dish is the Cochinita Pibil from the Yucatan region of Mexico,” says Chef Daniel Munoz of first-time event participant Octavio Cantina & Kitchen. “We marinate the pork overnight in a mixture of sweet, savory and earthy flavors. Then we wrap it in banana leaves and slow-roast it for 8 to 10 hours in our wood-burning oven until it’s super tender. The flavors are phenomenal.” Guests can expect to try the Cochinita Pibil on the SPOON Route.
This year’s event once again collaborates with the Andersonville Farmers Market to feature three vendors on the market’s footprint on Berwyn between Clark and Ashland. Vendors include market newcomer Chiya Chai, Letizia’s, and Pecking Order.
Additional eateries brand new to the event this year include: CESCAS Margarita Bar and Grill, Chutney Devis, FRÍO Gelato, Hutch American Kitchen + Bar, and Passerotto.
“We’re very excited to be participating in our first Taste of Andersonville this year,” says Chef/Owner of Passerotto Jennifer Kim “This neighborhood has been so supportive of us and we can’t wait to share our own unique version of Korean cuisine with more members of this wonderful community.” Passerotto plans to feature a savory menu item for the FORK route created from farm-fresh ingredients available that week.
