Crockpot Hot Dogs & Toppings Bar

Any fun plans for the Labor Day weekend? We have a family household of 5 and this year I'm serving up a hot dog bar! It's a fun yet budget friendly way to jazz up the usual grilled hot dogs and burgers. For me, the fun is in all the options one can top their dog.

My hot dog bar will not involve grilling but rather using my crockpot to cook several at once with no stress! Depending on the size of your crockpot, you can easily feed an army with this cooking method.

How do you like your hot dog? The topping combinations are endless but here are a few ideas to inspire you...

Chili Cheese Dog
Chili + Shredded Cheese + Red Onions, finely diced

Chicago Dog
Buns with Poppy Seeds +Tomatoes, sliced thinly + Yellow Mustard + Pickle Relish +
White onions, finely diced + Dill pickle spears + Sport peppers or pepperoncini  + Celery salt 

Taco Dog
Beans - black, pinto or both, drained and rinsed  + Mexican cheese blend, shredded +
Pico de Gallo + Pickled Jalapeno slices + Taco Sauce  + Queso cheese, crumbled 

Tex Mex
BBQ Sauce + French fried onions + Sharp Cheese, shredded 

Garden Dog
Tomatoes, thinly sliced + Cucumbers, diced + Lettuce, cut finely + Mayonnaise 

BLT Dog 
Cherry Tomatoes, cut into quarters + Bacon, cooked and chopped + Lettuce, cut finely + Mayonnaise 

California Dog
Avocados, sliced thinly + Bacon, cooked and chopped + Pico de Gallo

Cook Time: 2-3 hours

Choice of Toppings


1. Gather ingredients
2. Add hot dogs to Crock Pot, either standing up if they fit with the lid on, or laying down. 
3. Set Crock Pot to low and cook 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally so they don’t burn.
4. Serve immediately with toppings of your choice.
