My son has even gotten into grilling because it's quick, easy and well, boys like mine enjoy being safely around fire. Chicken is seasoned, grilled and basted with your preferred BBQ sauce - bottled or homemade. I'll switch it up depending on what's on sale, what ingredients I have on hand and/or what flavors I'm craving.
And... if don't have a grill, you can opt to bake the chicken instead!
BBQ Grilled Chicken
Serves 4-6
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 30-40 min
INGREDIENTS
3-4 pounds chicken, cut up, thigh, legs and/or breasts, skin on2-3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste
2 cups BBQ Sauce, homemade or store bought plus additional for serving if desired*

INSTRUCTIONS
1. Gather ingredients and preheat grill to medium high heat.2. Clean chicken and pat dry with paper towel; Lay in single layer on large baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil; sprinkle with salt and pepper. Turn chicken over and repeat on other side.
3. Place chicken on grill skin side down for 10-15 minutes or until skin is browned. Turn chicken and baste with BBQ sauce. Continue cooking 15-20 minutes. Turn over and baste with more sauce.
4. Cook 5 minutes longer or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F. Remove from grill and place on serving tray. Rest for 5 minutes before serving
*SIMPLY HOMEMADE BBQ SAUCE
INGREDIENTS
2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup vinegar (apple cider vinegar works well too)
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon worchestershire sauce
1 -2 dashes hot sauce (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
1. Gather ingredients & combine all ingredients in a large bowl.
2. Add remaining ingredients
3. Whisk together to combine
4. Use as preferred in recipes or as a table condiment
