Air Fryer Caramel Apple Wontons

It’s apple picking season and that means I’m taking advantage of all the different apple varieties available at farmers markets! I’ve made some apple pie filling to store over the winter and with some extra on hand, I decided to have some fun using them to make these Air Fryer Caramel Apple Wontons.

You don’t have to make homemade apple pie filling to prepare these. In fact, store bought canned apple pie filling will work just fine! These little wontons are really wonderful, especially for the fall.  They’re simple to make, and because there’s no frying in deep oil, they’re not greasy. You can serve them with a dollop of ice cream and caramel sauce on the side, or just on their own.

  1. Gather ingredients. Preheat air fryer at 350 degrees.
  2. Place apple pie filling in a bowl and lay the Wonton wrappers out on flat surface, close to the air fryer.
  3. Place 1 1/2 teaspoons of the Apple pie filling in the middle of the wonton wrapper. Dip the teaspoon in the caramel sauce, and using the back of the teaspoon, run the spoon around the edges of the wonton wrapper.
  4. Pull the 4 edges of the wrapper up in a little bunch and pinch together to secure the wonton.
  5. Place in the air fryer, and when the air fryer is full, spray with the spray oil, coating the wontons.
  6. Close the air fryer and set the time for 7 minutes, and the temperature at 350 degrees. When wontons have finished cooking, remove them from the air fryer basket, and place on a plate.
  7. Repeat process until you’ve made all the wontons using up the filling.
  8. Drizzle wontons with caramel sauce, and sprinkle generously with powdered sugar before serving.
