Tips for a Restaurant Quality Pork Katsu at Home

Now that you know our delicious pork Tonkatsu recipe, you might think about how to make it even better. Fortunately, you can incorporate a few tips to ensure you make restaurant-quality home meals. Here are some of the tips you can implement to get the most out of our pork Tonkatsu recipe:

1. Serve With Other Dishes

You can serve many things with pork Tonkatsu to further elevate the dish’s flavor. We recommend that you serve the dish with any of the following items:

  • Shredded raw cabbage
  • Japanese mustard
  • Miso soup
  • Steamed rice
  • Steamed broccoli
  • And much more

Ensure you are not serving this recipe with anything heavy because the deep-fried pork will be enough fat to the meal. Instead, pair it with lighter sides so that you can enjoy the flavor of the Tonkatsu even more.

2. Make Sure You Prevent the Pork Chops from Curling While Frying

There are many times when you can cook pork chops, but they can turn out to curl. To avoid this problem, we recommend cutting the pork chops properly. For example, we recommend you make two-inches apart slits through the tissue and fat.

Such a method will guarantee that the pork chops will remain stable while frying. They will not curl, and you can serve perfect-looking pork Tonkatsu in no time.

3. Ensure the Right Temperature and Clean Oil Between Batches

The right temperature is crucial for the pork to fry in the best way possible. Because of this, we recommend keeping a temperature between 350 and 375F for the best results while cooking the pork chops. Once you do, the pork will cook thoroughly, and the outer layer will turn golden brown.

Besides that, you also need to ensure the oil is clean between batches. As a result, we recommend that you remove any crumbs between cooking different batches. It will ensure that the crust doesn’t darken as you keep frying the various pieces of pork chops.

4. Reheat the Right Way to Consume Later

You can keep the fried pork katsu whole to reheat it properly, as it will ensure that extra moisture is not lost. There are various methods to reheat pork chops. However, we recommend using the air fryer to ensure the crispy texture of the Tonkatsu.

Place the Tonkatsu pieces inside the air fryer and let it fry at 350F for at least five minutes or until it is crispy and heated. Then, take it out and enjoy the crispy pork Tonkatsu with a sauce of your choice.

5. Experiment with Different Meats

Pork Tonkatsu is the most popular dish, but you can experiment with other meats. For example, you can swap pork for boneless chicken, beef, ham steaks, patties of minced meat, and much more. Of course, you must keep the rest of the recipe the same to ensure you can create the best Tonkatsu.

Avoid using lean meat cuts, such as Turkey and other meats. The recipe is best made with thick cuts of meat that you can deep-fry. So, stick to these options.

6. Follow the Recipe

Finally, you must follow the recipe if you want restaurant-quality pork katsu at home. We have perfected our recipe by experimenting many times to provide you with its best version. So, be sure to stick to the recipe and experiment with the meats and sides if you are looking to ensure a delicious taste of this recipe.
